The First 70/30 Workshop Takes Place in London

The First 70/30 Workshop Takes Place in London

The first 70/30 Workshop took place on Friday 7th July at King’s Cross, Central London

We are so thankful to everybody who came along to the first of our workshops. It was a hugely successful event and we were overwhelmed by the passion, optimism and commitment shown by everyone throughout the day!

The event was broken down into 5 key sessions:

  1. What 70/30 is and why it’s important for 21st Century Britain
  2. What steps we need to take to make 70/30 a reality
  3. Detailed blueprint of WAVE Trust’s primary preventive project, Pioneer Communities
  4. Target audiences for 70/30 / alliance building
  5. Q&A session

We ended the day by giving attendees, of whom many were 70/30 Ambassadors, an opportunity to share their thoughts, ideas and feedback on the Campaign and its current direction, which will now be fed back to Head Office and considered when preparing the next year’s Campaign Strategy paper.

As the day was such a great success, it is intended that the 70/30 workshop will become a regular event, to be held across the country.

If you would like to learn more about what was discussed at this workshop or would like access to the powerpoint presentations used, please email info@70-30.org.uk or call 020 8688 3773.

70/30 Campaign Wins Prize for Oral Presentation at Perinatal Mental Health Conference

70/30 Campaign’s Sara Martínez & Sam Lawes attended the Perinatal Mental Health Conference (#PMHConf2017) in Wembley, London on Friday. The day, hosted by Consultant Obstetrician, Raja Gangopadhyay and PANDAS UK, was an absolute success with some fascinating presentations both delivered from a professional perspective and a more personal perspective on real life experiences.

70/30 were fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to deliver a presentation on WAVE Trust’s 70/30 Strategy & Primary Prevention approach to Perinatal Mental Health to end the day and even managed to go away with first prize for best oral presentation!

Success!

The 70/30 Campaign Joins Thousands For This Year’s Charity Walk for Peace

The 70/30 Campaign Joins Thousands For This Year’s Charity Walk for Peace

70/30 Group Coordinators Sam Lawes (Battersea) and Michael Khajeh-Noori (Sussex) joined hundreds of others as they walked the 5k to celebrate this year’s Charity Walk of Peace.

We are so very proud of our wonderful team who walked the Charity Walk for Peace this weekend at Silvertown, Newham to raise awareness of and funds for the 70/30 Campaign (http://charitywalkforpeace.org/).

The walk attracted a very large number of participants and an ever-increasing number of charities who joined to support to raise funds for some amazing causes.

We are so grateful for all the sponsorships we have received so far for the 70/30 Campaign and the love and support shown by so many, so thank you! We’ve managed to raise a total of £640 so far, and the amount keeps going up!

There is still time for you to donate. See link below to donate today:

WHY SUPPORT US?

Did you know that 1 in 5 children in the UK have suffered from some form of maltreatment in their lives? 90% of those have no received no help at all.

The 70/30 Campaign (see www.70-30.org.uk) has been set up to reduce child maltreatment by at least 70% by the year 2030. We sincerely believe that this is possible. We aim to do this via prevention rather than tackling the symptoms after the effects of child maltreatment have occurred.

We are delighted to have wide spread support from not just local and nation politicians including MPs (there’s even an 1001 Critical Day APPG) from all parties and the Lords, but from a wide range of stakeholders.

WAVE Trust (charity no. 1080189), the charity that is leading the 70/30 Campaign is enjoying its 20th year anniversary.

We are not just asking for financial support but if you are able to spare even a little time you may wish to write to your MP to show your support, become a longer term supporter or even an Ambassador in your local area.

So here’s the Justgiving page again to donate:

Thank you in advance x

We love the new campaign by Mother London to tackle Stigma around breastfeeding!

We love the new campaign by Mother London to tackle Stigma around breastfeeding!

“it’s hard to believe that in 2017, UK mothers still feel watched and judged when feeding in public, by bottle or breast. This was our mother’s day project. A celebration of every woman’s right to decide how and where they feed their children without feeling guilty or embarrassed about their parenting choices.”
